Now that you are a sysop, maybe you can see if you can get rid of the underline under links. I think they look bad and most wiki sites do not have them. wikt:User:Gmcfoley
The site looks a lot cleaner without the lines, Also I notice you have a page on Wiktionary, why not apply for admin rights to that also? Gmcfoley 08:51, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'll think about it, thanks. Michael 10:51, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Recent changes
Maybe you should change Recent changes to Newest changes as is done on other simple English Wikis. Gmcfoley 09:02, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- Changed throughout the wiki. Michael 10:51, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
pages i worked on
The lower case I looks bad, is there a way to get it Uppercase? Gerard Foley 09:06, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- The default monobook.css has a text-transform: lowercase; entry for the top links. It should be possible to override it in the local copy, but is it wise to deviate from the other Simple wikis? Michael 10:51, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
No, it should be changed on all the Simple Wikis. Gerard Foley 11:42, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Mike Garcia
Are you Mike Garcia from Wikipedia? Guanaco 23:06, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- No, I'm not. Michael 06:23, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi Michael
As you can see from the recent edits here, I have made some major changes to MediaWiki settings, including changing the things the others have commented on. I changed "pages i worked on" to "my changes," which is not only simpler English, but also avoids the silly lowercase "i" problem. I've requested that they change it at SEWikipedia, but it hasn't happened yet. I also changed "Newest changes" to "New changes" since they mean about the same thing and "new" (unlike "newest") is on the BE850. I'm working on some of the system messages and other infrastructure (help pages, policy pages, etc.) to try to get this wiki and the other simple English wikis into good shape. Feel free to help with that.
I really like the introduction you placed on the sandbox. Good work.
Happy editing! --Cromwellt|talk 20:35, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Request for Admin Status
Hi, I'm requesting to become an Admin here and would like your input. Thanks --Ezra Katz 02:19, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
Thank you for reverting the vandalism to my page a while back. When I added the link to my userpage on the main page, I didn't realize that I was asking for userpage vandalism. I still think it is a good idea to have it there, but thanks for helping me out. I didn't even realize the page had been vandalized (more than once) until I checked the history.
BTW, I'm excited that we seem to be getting more activity recently. Happy editing! --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 21:54, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
En. Wikibooks Merger
I wanted to draw your attention to this discussion: Wikibooks:Simple_talk#Merge_this_project_with_en.wikibooks.3F. I would really like to get the involvement of as many members here as possible before anybody does anything. I dont want this to be a hostile or forced process, the SE community really has every right to say they don't want to do this and nobody would ever bring the option up again.
I really do believe that there are a lot of benefits to this merger, most of which are enumerated in the discussion. I sincerely believe that everybody would benefit from this, a mixing of the passion for teaching from this project with the staff and infrastructure of the EN project. Please let us know what you think about this. --Whiteknight 02:00, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Michael. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Michael~simplewikibooks that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
